Pizza time!

One dish I LOVE to make and have improved on each time I make it is pizza! I started to make pizza dough from scratch to save money last summer when I didn't have a job and my, then, fiancé B had to support both of us. I've tried several dough recipes and I think the best one I've come across so far is this one, but you must roll it as thin as possible! The first time it was fairly doughy and a bit raw. I like to mix in some Italian seasoning and a bit of garlic powder. :)

Pizza #1 and pizza #2

The big secret of great homemade pizza is using a baking stone. Preheat the stone in the oven... tricky, but worth it! Once the oven and the stone are preheated, sprinkle a little flour on the stone then carefully place the thinly rolled out dough on the hot stone.

Burgers!

Some fun pictures from our adventures and creations in the kitchen!

The handsome chef!

On Wednesday night
we made turkey burgers. Such an easy meal! We sautéed onions and bell peppers and mixed them into the ground turkey along with fresh basil, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.

We also made crash hot potatoes from the lovely Pioneer Woman.

Why start a blog?

After enjoying the monkey circus blog and revisiting J's old blog, we decided that instead of always posting excessive pictures and statuses on facebook that we could chronicle our adventures in a blog to share with friends and family.

Why the name? Well, we have a few reasons:
#10: It sounds cool and abstract.
#9: We loved playing with boxes as kids.
#8: Great things come in boxes, like presents. So you can make the link that this blog is our gift to you. haha
#7: The word "uses" gives our blog more credibility, like it isn't just trivial.
#6: It serves as an analogy to making life fun and adventurous when the fun and adventure aren't necessarily obvious.
#5: 101 is a cool number, even when you've gone the distance of an even 100, there's one more...
#4: Hwy 101 connects WA to CA... yes, it's a stretch.
#3: The word "boring" was equivalent to a curse word in our households.
#2: We consider ourselves quite adept at creating something out of nothing.
#1: There's no end to the fun you can have with a cardboard box!
