Remodel day 80: Finishing Touches

We are loving our new home together! The finishing touches are coming together. At some point I guess we can't really call this a remodel anymore. :)

Brandon has almost finished installing our closets. He got a crash course on baseboards and trim from Joe.

I ordered samples for backsplash and blinds. I also enjoyed creating some organization crafts for our kitchen and bathroom. Very fun!

Remodel day 76: When little projects become big projects

All I wanted was a nice tile shower...

Some renovation projects become a black hole of sorts--taking your time and energy away. This shower stall has been one of those projects. Each step of the way there have been issues and intense frustration. Today was supposed to be a little project day doing the grout and other things. Problems with the grout made this project take over our evening.

But in the end, we grouted the shower tile.

Remodel day 75: We're home!

We spent many long hours packing and moving this week while working our day jobs and working on projects at the house. Needless to say, we are exhausted. But it is great to be moved in... on schedule!

Today, my parents volunteered to help. I don't think any of us anticipated a 8-hour work day today. My dad and Brandon painstakingly installed flooring in the hall, entry way, kitchen, and dining area. What a difference flooring makes. I'm happy not to walk on the gritty concrete slab anymore.

Meanwhile, my mom and I finished tiling the shower wall. She was probably the best candidate to help me finish such a tedious, stressful project. Looking forward to grouting and getting closer to not having a work site in our bedroom.

Remodel day 69: Big Kitchen Install

Wow! What a day... The photos say more than I can, I'm sure. The house is pretty unrecognizable at this point. Today, we had a lot of help! At one point, we had 15 people at the house! The plumber and our electrical guy were working while our kitchen brothers, Jake and Matt, led the charge on the kitchen install... they finished in 3.5 hours! Throughout the day the microwave, cabinets, 3 fans, toilet, and bathroom sink were all installed. Brandon and Matt made a run to our old house and brought over our heaviest items... Less lifting later! We also prepped the counters for tiling...

Thankful for the encouragement and support from friends and family including breakfast at Joe and Diane's, lunch brought by Diane and my mom, and a special yogurt delivery from Anthony, Julie, and baby Lilly! Exciting week! Time to pack and really start moving in!
